Undersøkelsen vil fortelle i hvilken
design oppsto. English: This paper is part of a Research and Development project which was carried out with
15 Credit students (ECTS) at the Art Department at Hamar College of Education. The
aim of the project was to see to what extent information and teaching about a
particular style period could give new impulses and ideas to the students’ creativity,
and how that would find expression in a given task. It will show to what extent
students themselves take the initiative to look for information regarding form,
techniques and materials over and above what they get from the teaching itself, and
how the idea behind the shaping of the product started.
The practical creative activities are connected to the style period round about 1900,
Art Nouveau, and the paper is intended to be a first introduction about the period
which the students are to familiarise themselves with. On the basis of this introduction
the students should have a basic knowledge of the ideology and form and design of the
period. By working on their theoretical, physical and practical knowledge it will be of
great interest to learn where they feel their consciousness of the product design
originated.
