Hva vektlegger rektor i arbeidet med å forebygge mobbing?

Abstract

Norsk: Formål med denne masteroppgaven er å få rektorenes fortelling om hva de vektlegger i arbeidet med forebygging av mobbing. Et ønske med studien er at funnene kan være til nytte med tanke på hva som kan være viktige faktorer i det forebyggende arbeidet. Oppgaven har følgende problemstilling: Hva vektlegger rektor i arbeidet med å forebygge mobbing? Studien er kvalitativ, og datamaterialet bygger på en fenomenologisk- hermeneutisk tilnærming. Det er gjennomført tre semistrukturerte intervjuer med rektorer som arbeider ved skoler som kan vise til lite mobbing blant elevene. Funnene er analysert i lys av teori og nyere forskning knyttet til forebygging av mobbing. Funnene viser hva rektorene forteller at de vektlegger i det forebyggende arbeidet mot mobbing. Studien viser at rektorene ser på det å arbeide forebyggende som det viktigste når det gjelder å bekjempe mobbing. De viser til rutiner knyttet til konkrete forebyggende tiltak, og de er opptatt av seg selv som forbilde for både elever og ansatte ved skolen. Studien viser også at rektorene er bevisste på at felles forståelse blant de ansatte i organisasjonen er viktig. Videre kan man finne at det prioriteres å løfte opp temaer rundt mobbing i personalgruppa gjennom felles drøftinger og refleksjoner.

English: The objective with this thesis is to convey what principals report that they emphasize in the area of preventing bullying. An ambition is that the study's findings will be factors that may benefit the preventative work. The thesis has the following research question: What does the principal emphasise in the preventative work against bullying? The study is qualitative, and the data material is based upon a phenomenological-hermeneutic approach. Three semi-structured interviews have been conducted with principals of schools that have low bullying numbers amongst their pupils. The findings are analysed in light of theory and new research on the prevention of bullying. The findings show what the principals emphasise in their work to prevent bullying. The study shows that the principals regard preventative work to be the most important factor in the fight against bullying. They refer to routines for specific preventative measures, and they regard themselves as role models for both pupils and school staff. The study also shows that the principals are conscious of the importance of a shared understanding amongst staff members. Further, there are findings that these principals prioritise plenary discussions and reflections on the topic of bullying
