| nb_NO |
dc.description.abstract | Abstract (norsk sammendrag)
The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to examine how Robotic Process Automation (RPA) will affect the operational efficiency in Pipelife Norway in terms of cost savings and enhanced quality in the routine tasks that the thesis addresses. This will be examined using a case study where I look at three specific processes in which the company has decided to test the technology. Furthermore, I will present relevant literature related to the technology as well as some general literature on business process improvement. To understand how the implementation of this technology has been approached both by Pipelife and by me, I will explain the criteria’s that has been part of deciding on which processes to choose, before a detailed describing of the three chosen processes is presented. In the analysis part of the thesis I will look at the running costs that comes with operating the technology, as well as the sunk cost associated with the startup of this project. Next, I will examine the three chosen processes individually in terms of what kind of savings that can be expected as a result of removing the human workforce from the tasks, and what value this gives to the employees that no longer has to perform these tasks. The results of the study show that the potential for substantial savings is present, but that this requires that the company can find more costly processes that can be automated, as well as having to transfer these automations to the other factories in the business group. | nb_NO |
