English: The theme of this thesis is the suppositions of pupils in secondary school to play in a band because of musical identity, taste and ear. The task consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical section are obtained information from a variety of research about how musical identity, taste and musicality/ aural abilities are developed. The empirical part consists of one qualitative case study where the survey is to test three students in aural playing in two different musical styles. The main question is: What relationships exist between the development of musical identity, taste and ear, and what implications this has for secondary school students`suppositions for band playing. The question was answered through the discussion of possible links between musical identity, taste and aural abilities in the theoretical material, as further discussed in relation to the findings of the case study. The task has a pedagogical approach and is intended to provide music educators an increased understanding of secondary school pupils' assumptions in relation to the band play in general and aural playing in particular.
