Summary: The research question in this assignment is: “Which factors influences the results in mathematics for sixth graders in Namibia?”. There are two sub research questions to guide the assignment in the direction wanted, and they are: “How does the teacher influence the results?”, and “Are there other important factors in the classroom that influences the results?”. It’s been gathered data from the practice school, as well as national and continental results. The mathematics teacher in sixth grade has been observed to get a picture of which kind of teacher he/she is and how the lessons are. There are analysed results for sixth graders at the local, national and continental level. Language and investment in education are also factors seen in relation to changes in the results. The data gathered shows improvement in the mathematics results in Namibia, as can be seen in connection with among inter alia investment in education and language. There is still some way to go, but the results are positive for Namibia’s future in education.
