Sammendrag: Temaet for denne oppgaven er skole-hjem-samarbeidet.
Summary: The theme for this thesis is school-home-collaboration. The problem reads: “how can we involve parents in the parent-teacher conference?”. To elucidate the problem, it is used theories and research concerning the parents importance for the students’ progress, the importance of a well-functioning school-home-collaboration, what characterizes a well-functioning parent-teacher conference, how to get a good dialogue and some about the student conference and feedback. In addition to the theories and research there will be presented results from my own interviews and observation. It has been done interviews with a principal and a teacher, in addition to an observation of a parent-teacher conference. The results of the interviews and the observation, in light of the theory, shows that it’s essential that the parents are taken seriously. It shows that it is important that the teacher gives the parents the feeling of a symmetrical relationship, and that both parties collaborate to give the child the best possible basis for development. To create this symmetrical relationship, it may be as simple as following the golden rule; do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
