English: The object of this task is to observe how the use of the natural environment can contribute to adapted education. For data collection, I chose several approaches. I chose observation of outdoor learning in the 6th and 7th grades, in addition to personal letters from four subjects. The results of the observations and letters showed that the teachers shared Dewey’s views concerning the advantages and necessity of connecting theory in the classroom and practice during outdoor school. Learning inside the classroom does not conflict with learning outside; rather the two complement one another. The teachers were focused on a high level of learning outside via varied and differentiated activities. My findings showed that outdoor school was especially beneficial for improving vocabulary and inclusiveness in group activities. The paper also highlights the important role of the teachers in connecting purposeful and learning-rich activities via clear learning objectives and criteria for learning and assessment.nb_NO
