English: Through a critical discourse analysis, this master thesis examines how the pedagogical discourse of student-teacher conversation constructs and constitutes the formalized student-teacher conversation as a formal conversation between contact teacher and student. By using a wide range of literature that can be linked to the student-teacher conversation topic and through the reading of Kirsten Limstrands texts, including the article "Student-teacher conversations at secondary school and high school", this thesis examines how the discourse goes. The analysis is based on Michel Foucault and Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe's theory of power and discourse. Based on their theory of power and discourse, different texts may affect the terms of action for various social practices. Texts related to student-teacher conversations can also affect the terms of action for researchers, teachers and students, and contributes to shape, reinforce and reproduce the group's perception of student-teacher conversations. The Educational Act's provisions and academic texts dealing with the student-teacher conversation are regarded as discourse practices, in line with the theoretical framework of the thesis, and help to construct the pedagogical student-teacher discourse. The thesis examines how the formalized student-teacher conversation appears as a challenge and how the pedagogical student-teacher conversation discourse which is created in the various texts, appears as a battlefield for different part-discourses – something that invites to further research on student-teacher conversations and to an educational policy debate.nb_NO
