English: The Norwegian Education Act section 2-8 permits adopted language education to take place in separate classes, called reception classes, as an introductory program for newly arrived students. Previous studies document positive aspects of this model, including the favourable conditions teachers have for providing students with training adapted to their linguistic and academic needs. However, research also shows some negative aspects, where the biggest pitfall is considered to be the high risk of exclusion (Bunar; 2015; Nilsson & Axelsson, 2013; Rambøll, 2013; Rambøll, 2016; Short, 2002; Østberg et.al, 2010). The purpose of this thesis is to illustrate how teachers associated with the current introduction program can reduce the risk of exclusion. This illustration is done on the basis of a case study, where the focus is three teachers’ inclusion work. The thesis focuses on how these three teachers, a teacher from a reception class and two teachers from two different regular classes, collaborate on the inclusion of newly arrived students in a reception class. This focus is based on a report by Rambøll (2013), saying that a good and inclusive introduction program requires a good teacher-collaboration. The data material is obtained through qualitative interviews, and indicates that the teachers collaborate on the inclusion of the students in the reception class in the form of a common focus on relationship-building and adapted education, as well as through continuous assessment work, where the teachers are constantly evaluate the students’ academic and social needs. These findings are discussed in light of existing theory of teacher collaboration, inclusion and relationship-building. The form and quality of the teacher collaboration is discussed and assessed on the basis of Wenger's (2004) theory that good collaboration requires a joint commitment, a joint venture and a common repertoire. Furthermore, the teachers’ inclusion work is discussed in light of Jenny Folke’s (2015) and Bachmann and Haug’s (2006) inclusion perspective, which claims that inclusion is about satisfying students' academic and social needs. In this context, the teacher's relationship-building work, which can be considered as a work to satisfy the students' social needs, is discussed on the basis of Spurkeland’s (2012) relationship skills model.nb_NO
