Bacheloroppgave sykepleie, 2017nb_NO
Abstract The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to focus on suicidal, young males and how nurses can reach out and promote hope. Statistics show higher numbers among men than women who are suicidal and we would therefore, through this thesis, acquire knowledge about why it’s like this and which part nurses play towards the suicidal patient. When caring for suicidal patients we see the importance of establishing human- to- human interactions that are based on nurses and patients seeing each other as equals. The establishment of this relationship demands maintenance from the nurses. Through the thesis we put focus on how one can achieve good relations and communication with the patients as well as what it takes from a nurse when meeting this patient group. When meeting suicidal patients it is important that the nurses are conscious of their knowledge and attitudes because the theme surrounding the patients is about life and death. The nurses duty towards the patient is a part of the thesis as it lays the foundation for the nurses professional ethics that we relate to every day. This bachelor thesis is a literary study that is based on course material, our chosen literature, research and our own experience in the field.nb_NO
