Musikk og dannelse. Et kvalitativt brevmetodisk forskningsprosjekt om musikkens betydning for individets dannelsesprosess.

Abstract

Norsk: Dette er en masteroppgave i tilpasset opplæring ved Høgskolen i Innlandet 2018. Oppgavens formål er å undersøke musikkens betydning for individets dannelse. Dannelsen av ethvert individ er en del av skolens mål. Denne prosessen har til hensikt å sørge for at ethvert individ ender opp som et integrert menneske i vårt felles samfunn. For å oppnå dette, er det underveis i denne prosessen nødvendig at hvert enkelt menneske opplever mestring og anerkjennelse. Mestringen kan knyttes til ulike oppgaver han eller hun blir presentert for, mens anerkjennelsen kan erfares når evnene den enkelte besitter anses som goder for fellesskapet. I opplæringsøyemed er det av den grunn nødvendig at opplæringen tilpasses enhver elev. Dette kan både knyttes til fagene som eleven undervises i, men også til metodene som brukes, og organiseringen som gjøres. I dagens norske skole fokuseres det i stor grad på fag som fordrer kognitive evner, slike som norsk, matematikk og engelsk. Praktisk-estetiske fag, som musikkfaget er en del av, synes i økende grad å bli neglisjert. Det er grunn til å undre seg over hvilken betydning dette vil ha for elevens helhetlige dannelse. Det er dessuten rimelig å anta at opplæringen som følge av denne faglige vektleggingen i større grad vil være tilpasset en mindre del av elevmassen. Dette kan blant annet lede an til en marginalisering av de av elevene som føler seg forbigått hva angår innholdet i skolen. Gjennom dette forskningsprosjektet vil jeg derfor undersøke om musikkfaget, som offererer opplevelser som skiller seg fra erfaringene fagene som ofte omtales som skolens basisfag – norsk, matematikk og engelsk – kan ha en positiv betydning for menneskets dannelsesprosess. Dette vil videre danne grunnlaget for å kunne si noe om musikkfagets betydning, og vektleggingen av dette faget i skolen.

English: This is a master's thesis in Adapted Education at Innlandet University College 2018. The purpose of the assignment is to examine the importance of music for the human formation. The formation of any human is part of the school's goal. This process aims to ensure that every individual ends up as an integral person in our common society. In order to achieve this, it is necessary that every person experience coping and recognition. The mastery can be linked to the various tasks he or she is presented to, while recognition can be experienced when the abilities the individual possesses is considered being positive for the community. For educational purposes, it is therefore necessary that the training is adapted to any student. This affects both what subjects to choose, but also the choice of methods used and the choice of organization of the instruction. Today's Norwegian school focuses mainly on subjects requiring cognitive skills, such as Norwegian, mathematics and English. That seems to lead to a neglect of practical aesthetic subjects, including music subjects. As a result, there is reason to wonder what significance it will have for the student's overall formation. It is also reasonable to assume that the education is more adapted to a smaller proportion of the pupil mass. Among other things, this may lead to a marginalization of those students who feel confused about the content of the school. Secondly, it will also result in a reproduction of social inequality since only a small amount of knowledge seems to be emphasized in the education. Through this assignment, I will therefore investigate whether music subjects, which opens up to different experiences than the aforementioned subjects offer – Norwegian, mathematics and English – can lead to positive contributions in the human formation process. This will further form the basis for being able to say something about the importance of music subjects and the emphasis on this subject in school.
