Vekstskifte uten vertsplantematerial brukes for å redusere mengden spiredyktige sporer i jorda.
This bachelor thesis deals with the impact of harvesting techniques and storage conditions on carrot loss due to fungal diseases. The purpose of the assignment is to use literature to elucidate factors effecting the storability of carrot by looking at how to minimize carrot loss due to plant pathogenic fungal diseases. In order to prevent the carrot loss during long-term storage, the infection pressure in the soil must be reduced and the carrot's plant tissue must be optimal. The measures for reducing the infection pressure must match the biology of the fungal disease. The fungi survive several years in the soil as a resting spore but need host plants to survive. Crop rotation without host plant material is used to reduce the amount of sprouting spores in the soil. Measures to prevent infection in the crop are an important part of the storability of the root. Most fungal diseases need wounds or weakened tissue to infect carrots. Thus, gentle harvesting without damage will lead to increased storability. Minimizing soil and plant residues in the boxes will also reduce the infection pressure in storage. As the weakening and degradation of the plant tissue is inevitable, one must optimize and maintain the quality of the plant tissue through all stages of production.nb_NO
