English: This paper focuses on Housing Savings for Youth (BSU) and looks at the impact of different economic factors towards savings in BSU. We use the amount saved in BSU as a measure of students' savings and statistical analysis to identify cause-effect-relationships. On this basis, our main research question is: "How do different economic factors affect the savings in BSU for students at Hedmark University College?" The consumer demand theory and perspectives from John Maynard Keynes and Francisco Modigliani were the starting point for the design of this research question. Using selected theory and our own assumptions, we developed one hypothesis for each of the economic factors; income, consumption, loans and parental support. To answer the hypotheses and the main research question, we used a quantitative approach distributing a target survey via social media. The survey was distributed and responses collected for student groups online, affiliated to campus Rena and Elverum, who are within the targeted criteria. Hypothesis testing provides the basis for the statistically significant association; each factor is validated against the amount saved in BSU. The result of the analysis supports 2 of our 4 hypotheses; loans and parental support. Furthermore, we discuss the results and look at the findings in context of the theory and our own assumptions. To measure the reliability and validity of this paper, we will give a critical evaluation of our work. Additional suggestions for further research on BSU are given
