Prosjektet "Bibliotekar i faglig kontorfellesskap". Sluttrapport

Abstract

Norsk: Ved å plassere bibliotekarkompetanse inn i et faglig kontorfellesskap, ønsket vi å finne ut om dette førte til bedre samhandling mellom bibliotek og faglig ansatte. Prosjektet hadde tre delmål:1) Gi bedre FoU-støtte. 2) Gi bedre undervisningsstøtte. 3) Samlingsutvikling mer tilpasset FoU og undervisningen ved instituttet. Prosjektperioden var hele året 2006. Bibliotekaren har arbeidet halve dager på kontor i fagmiljøet, resten av dagen har hun arbeidet i biblioteket.

Sluttrapporten bygger på en kartlegging av henvendelser gjort av utplassert bibliotekar og en spørreundersøkelse foretatt etter endt prosjektperiode. Hovedfunnene viser at respondentene ønsker at institusjonen for framtida skal tilrettelegge for bibliotekar i faglig kontorfellesskap fordi dette medfører at de bruker biblioteket mer og bibliotekets ressurser blir bedre utnyttet.

Prosjektet ble utført ved Institutt for naturvitenskap og teknologi, LUNA, Høgskolen i Hedmark. Vi mener ordningen også kan overføres til andre fagområder. Bibliotekarens tidsressurs ute i fagmiljøet bør vurderes ut fra fagmiljøets størrelse og omfang av forskning og masterstudier.

English: By placing a qualified librarian in a faculty office environment, we wished to determine if this contributed to better interaction between the library and faculty members. The project had three intermediate goals: 1) Give better support for research and development. 2) Give better support for teaching. 3) Develop library collection more tailored toward research, development and teaching at the institute. The project period was the entire year of 2006. The librarian worked half-days at an office in the academic department and the rest of the day at the library. The final report is based on an examination of requests done by the deployed librarian and a questionnaire undertaken at the completion of the project period. The main findings show that the respondents want the institution to continue accommodating a librarian in the faculty office environment because this results in increased use of the library and better utilization of library resources. The project was carried out at the Institute of Natural Science and Technology, LUNA, Hedmark University College, Norway. We believe that the arrangement can be implemented also in other academic fields. The librarians’ time allotment in the academic department should be determined by the department’s size and the scope of its research and master’s programs.
