Kommunikasjon i veiledning

Abstract

Formålet med denne masteroppgaven er å synliggjøre viktigheten av god kommunikasjon i en veiledningssamtale og hvordan det er mulig å gjøre dette i praksis. Som karriereveileder har jeg gjennom min karriere tilegnet meg mye kunnskap og erfaring på dette området. Fellesnevneren for en vellykket veiledningssamtale er at kommunikasjonen mellom veileder og veisøker er god.

Problemstillingen for oppgaven er: «Hva er god kommunikasjon i veiledning og hvordan få dette til i praksis?». For å svare på dette spørsmålet har jeg valgt å benytte meg av kvalitativ forskningsmetode med autoetnografi og aksjonsforskning som tilnærming. Ved å anvende disse to som metodisk tilnærming, bruker jeg meg selv som informant og forsker på min egen praksis, hvor jeg har et kritisk blikk på min egen arbeidshverdag gjennom kritisk teori.

Gjennom denne forskningen tar jeg en posisjon hvor jeg ser kommunikasjonen i veiledning utenfra med forskerblikk, samtidig som jeg ser dette innenfra som veileder. Dette har resultert i at jeg har blitt mer bevisst over hvordan jeg selv fremstår som veileder ovenfor de menneskene jeg møter og bistår i min arbeidshverdag. Ved å granske min egen praksis, ønsker jeg å kunne være med å bevisstgjøre og utvikle kunnskap som kan forbedre praksis hos både meg selv og andre i samme yrke.

The purpose of this master thesis is to highlight the importance of good communication in a guidance interview and how it is possible to achieve this in practice. As a carrier counselor, I have required knowledge and experience in this field of work. The key to a successful guidance is that the communication between the counselor and the client is good.

Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to explore “What is good communication in guidance and how can this be achieved in practice?”. To be able to answer this question I have chosen to apply qualitative research method with autoethnography and action research as an approach. By applying these two as a methodical approach, I use myself as an informant and research my own practice in which I have a critical view on my own workday through critical theory.

Through this research, I take on a role where I view the communication in guidance interviews from the outside with a research perspective, while also viewing it from the inside as a carrier counselor. This has resulted in me becoming more aware of how I present myself as a counselor to the people I meet and advise through my workday. By examining my own practice, I want to be able to raise awareness and develop knowledge that can improve the practice for both myself and others in the same profession.
