| nb_NO |
dc.description.abstract | English:
The topic of this paper deals with fractions for middle-deemed primary schools, with the following research question: What are the possible misconceptions about the subject of fractions for class 7 students?
In order to answer this question, I have used a qualitative interview method with a sample of six 7th year students. The interview guide was composed of diagnostics tasks for the purpose of identifying students’ misconceptions.
The study resulted in the following findings:
The most common misconceptions about fractions can be found among class 7 students.
The study indicates that students lack a basic understanding of what fractions are, which then leads to misconceptions in all areas in the subject of fractions.
Greater focus on a fundamental conceptual understanding of fractions rather than simply the memorization of rules is essential.
With the proper understanding of concepts, it will be possible to gradually expand students’ knowledge of fractions, enabling students to determine whether what they are doing is correct, since they would have an understanding of the principles. | nb_NO |
