English: The topic of this thesis is the collaboration between school and home, and how the teacher's communication can affect the relationship with the parents. The problem is highlighted through theory and interviews with parents of a child who has previously shown challenging behavior and teachers at the child's school. It is important that teachers and parents manage to build a relationship based on partnership and equivalence to find solutions that can help the child. Government policy documents provide guidance for this, and it is the teacher who has the main responsibility for the collaboration to work. Through the research, it has been found that parents may feel disregarded in the collaboration by receiving information about negative events in relation to the child's behavior and that they are not asked how they can help solve the situation with the teacher. Here it is pointed out relationships that should be built on the basis of recognition, empathy and trust between teachers and parents. Furthermore, we have seen that teachers deal with collaboration with parents differently, and that there may be different views of how power and conflict are experienced in the collaboration. The experience of the relationship between parents and teachers is in contrast to how the informants experience the collaboration, and may indicate that the parents protect their child by avoiding conflict with the teacher.nb_NO
