«Kære, lad os ikke komme ind på følelser og sligt noget» - En studie av skjønnlitteraturens rolle i det tverrfaglige temaet folkehelse og livsmestring

Abstract

Norsk: Temaet for denne masteroppgaven er skjønnlitteraturens rolle i norskfaget i den nye læreplanen Fagfornyelsen. Oppgaven undersøker hvordan skjønnlitteraturens rolle kan legitimeres ved hjelp av det nye tverrfaglige temaet folkehelse og livsmestring som skal innføres med den nye læreplanen. Problemstillingen er: På hvilken måte kan skjønnlitteratur bidra til kunnskap og ferdigheter innenfor temaet folkehelse og livsmestring i skolen? Oppgaven har to formål. Det første er å finne en måte å legitimere bruken av skjønnlitteratur i norskfaget. Det andre målet er å undersøke hvordan skjønnlitteraturen kan bidra til kunnskap og ferdigheter som kan være til hjelp for elevene i arbeid med folkehelse og livsmestring som et tverrfaglig tema. Oppgavens teoridel tar for seg relevant teori med tanke på skjønnlitteratur, norskfagets utvikling og skolens danningsprosjekt. Videre følger også en gjennomgang av Fagfornyelsen med tilhørende begrepsavklaring. Det ble gjennomført seks intervjuer av praktiserende norsklærere. Tre fra ungdomsskolen og tre fra den videregående skolen. Intervjuene fikk tak i lærernes betraktninger og meninger rundt problemstillingen. Resultatene viser at det potensielt finnes muligheter for å legitimere bruken av skjønnlitteraturen gjennom folkehelse og livsmestring. Samtidig finnes det også noen mulige utfordringer med tanke på en slik måte å jobbe med litteraturen på. Disse resultatene diskuteres i lys av relevant teori.

English: The theme for this master’s thesis is the role of literature in the Norwegian school subject in the new curriculum, Fagfornyelsen. The thesis seeks to explore how the role of literature can be legitimatized by the interdisciplinary theme of public health and coping with life, which is part of the new curriculum. The research question is: In what ways may literature contribute with knowledge and skills within the theme of public health and coping with life in school? The thesis has two purposes. The first is to find a way to legitimatize the use of literature in the Norwegian school subject. The second is to explore how literature can contribute with knowledge and skills in ways that can aid student’s work with the interdisciplinary theme of public health and coping with life. Theory relevant to the fields of literature, the historical development of the Norwegian school subject, and the school’s educational program will be presented. A review of the new curriculum, Fagfornyelsen, and the related clarification of concepts will follow. Six interviews with practicing teachers were conducted. The purpose of the interviews was to capture the teacher’s perceptions and opinions of the research question. The results show the potentials of legitimizing the use of literature through the interdisciplinary theme of public health and coping with life. It also shows some potential challenges regarding this way of working with literature. These results are discussed in light of relevant theory.
