This article discuss how ITERS-R and ECERS-R used on item level can contribute to a budding science and physical education in ECEC and the ECTE. We use data from ITERS and ECERS obtained within the project of GoBaN3 and searching for Quality in Norwegian kindergarten. From our point of view an essential part of quality is rooted in “Fachdidaktikk”, and there are no-such in physical education and science education in ECEC-programs. We therefore seek to find some core elements of its potential content with ITER-R and ECERS-R as possible tools.
