dc.description.abstractFormålet med denne studien er å få et innblikk og forståelse av ungdomsskoleelevers meninger og erfaringer med karaktervurdering i kroppsøving. Det finnes mange ulike vurderingspraksiser i faget basert på hvordan læreplanen tolkes, og det er vurdert som interessant å utforske elevenes opplevelser med karaktervurdering i faget. Masteroppgaven har problemstillingen: «Hva mener ungdomsskoleelever om karaktervurdering i kroppsøvingsfaget?» Metoden som er benyttet i denne masteroppgaven, er kvalitative intervju. Det ble gjennomført individuelle, semistrukturerte intervju med seks 10. klassinger på to ulike ungdomsskoler. Dataene er analysert ved bruk av en tematisk analyse, der dataene ble sortert i fem ulike temaer: for eller mot karakterer i kroppsøving, grunnlag for vurdering, betydningen av forutsetninger, motivasjon, og sammenheng med underveisvurdering. Funnene i studien viser at det er ulike meninger om det bør være vurdering med karakterer i kroppsøving. Tre informanter mener at det bør være karakterer, to mener at det ikke bør være karakterer, mens en elev er usikker. Det fremkommer flest argumenter for karaktervurdering, der blant annet seriøsitet og at faget skal beholdes som et læringsfag er de mest sentrale argumentene. Det at karakterer bidrar til prestasjonsangst er et viktig argument mot karaktervurdering. Innsats oppleves som viktigst innenfor grunnlaget for vurdering, mens faktorer som prestasjon og ferdigheter oppleves som mindre, eller ikke viktig. Informantene i denne studien opplever at de blir vurdert ut ifra egne forutsetninger i stor grad, noe som ikke samsvarer med den tidligere forskningen som er omtalt i denne masteroppgaven.
dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study is to gain an insight and understanding of secondary school students' opinions and experiences with grading in physical education. There are many different assessment practices in physical education based on how the curriculum is interpreted, and it is considered interesting to explore the students' experiences with grading in physical education. The research question of this thesis is: "What do secondary school students think about grading in the physical education subject?" The method used in this master’s thesis is qualitative interviews. Individual, semi-structured interviews were conducted with six 10th graders at two different secondary schools. The data has been analyzed using a thematic analysis, where the data was sorted into five different themes: for or against grades in physical education, basis for assessment, the importance of background and abilities, motivation, and connection with formative assessment. The findings in the study show that there are different opinions on whether there should be assessment with grades in physical education. Three informants believe that there should be grades, two believe that there should not be grades, while one student is not sure. There are most arguments for grade assessment, where, among other things, seriousness and that the subject should be kept as a learning subject are the most central arguments. The fact that grades contribute to performance anxiety is an important argument against grade assessment. Effort is perceived as most important within the basis for assessment, while factors such as performance and skills are perceived as less, or not important. The informants in this study experience that they are assessed based on their own background and abilities to a large extent, which does not correspond to the previous research discussed in this master's thesis.
