Forsøk med bruk av IKT i matematikkundervisningen

Abstract

I studieårene 2001-02 og 2002-03 gjennomførte Høgskolen i Hedmark, avdeling for lærerutdanning i Hamar (LUH), forsøk med bruk av IKT i under-visningen. Forsøket ble kalt MIK-forsøket (media, informasjon og kommunikasjon). Det ble opprettet ei forsøksklasse hvert år. Også i studieåret 2003-04 deltok LUH i et slikt forsøk, men som da var utvidet til å gjelde alle førsteklasser. Denne rapporten omhandler matematikkfagets involvering i disse to forsøkene, i studieårene 2002-03 og 2003-04. Rapportens første del beskriver matematikkfagets del av MIK-forsøket i studieåret 2002-03. Forsøket ble det året kombinert med en egen fagplan i faget. Denne planen var spesielt tilrettelagt for bruk av ulike IKT-verktøy, samtidig som den forsøkte å ivareta sentrale ideer innen matematikkdidaktikken. Fagplanen beskrives, og de pedagogiske ideene begrunnes teoretisk. Det er også tatt inn en del eksempler på oppgaver som studentene måtte gjennomføre i løpet av studieåret. Hensikten er å vise hvordan det faglige innhol ble forsøkt tilpasset bruk av elektroniske hjelpemidler. Rapporten gjengir også et eksempel på studentenes vurdering av opplegget. Del 2 omhandler forsøksvirksomheten i studieåret 2003-04. Forsøket har i stor grad dreid seg om bruk av nettprogrammet ClassFronter. I rapporten gis det en beskrivelse av matematikkseksjonens arbeid med dette programmet. Det er også lagt inn en prinsipiell vurdering av hvordan elektroniske programmer kan brukes til å utvide det matematiske perspektivet hos studentene, og det er listet opp en del forslag til konkret bruk av IKT i matematikk grunnkurs for lærerutdanninga. I den forbindelse er det påpekt et økt behov for utstyr og programmer.

English: In 2001-02 and 2002-03 the Faculty of Education in Hedmark College, situated in Hamar, carried out a pilot project involving the use of ICT in teaching all subjects. The project was called ‘The MIC-project’ as it involved the integration of media, information technology and communication studies. There was a special project class at the college in each of these two years. In the following year, 2003-04, the project was expanded to include all first year teacher training students.This report deals with the subject of mathematics in the project in the years 2002-03 and 2003-04. The first part of the report deals with the part played by mathematics in the project in 2002-03. As part of the project a special curriculum plan was developed for the subject. This plan was especially designed so that students could make use of ICT software, at the same time as an effort was made to preserve the place of central concepts in the teaching of mathematics. The report contains a description of the plan and of the pedagogical ideas which it was based on. Also included are some examples of the sorts of exercises students had to grapple with in the course of the year. The reason for their inclusion is to show how the subject content was adapted to meet the needs of students who were using electronic aids. The report also contains an example of a student evaluation of the course. Part 2 of the report details the progress of the project in 2003-04. Integral to the project in 2003-04 was the use of the web-based program ‘Class Fronter’. The report contains a description of the mathematics department’s work with this program. It also contains an evaluation of the ways in which electronic programs may be employed to broaden the mathematical horizons of students. Included is a list of concrete suggestions for ways of using ICT in basic mathematics courses in teacher education. The need for more equipment and programs is touched upon.
