Vurdering av tre hogstmetoder for uttak av biovirke i høyereliggende skog i Vang Almenning
Abstract
Denne studien har vurdert to ulike hogstmetoder mot konvensjonell avvirkning for Vang Allmenning i Løten. Studien
This study has assessed two different logging methods against a conventional Cut-to-Length method for Vang Allmenning
in Løten. The reason for this assessment was because of substantial damage on the trees and a low market
price for pulpwood, might make it possible to extract the pulpwood as long tops with the branches on and chip it. In
addition it was considered a possibility to extract the branches alongside a conventional logging. The study showed
that there was no possibility to extract long tops and get a better price than conventional logging. However the
economy in extracting the branches alongside a conventional logging gave a marginal better price. The extraction of
branches has been shown to positively affect the scarification and in turn also the planting, especially in high altitude
stands which are recommended to scarificate and plant for a satisfactory regeneration of the forest.
It must be emphasized that the market has changed since this study was started, and as a result; the models and
calculations does not fit todays situation in the market. Mainly the changes relate to the removal of the subsidies for
biofuel harvest, which in turn has removed much of the foundation upon which the biofuel harvest was based.
