Abstract
Norsk:

Many educators have suggested that they experience difficulties in cooperation and engagement with parents of children who are from ethnic minority background.

This is a qualitative study which seeks to understand and illustrate examples of how teachers can seek to understand and improve the level of cooperation with minority parents.

This thesis contains various theories that can contribute to an increased awareness and provide understanding of why this partnership can too often be a difficult one.

The findings of the research revealed that there were clear differences in how educators conversed with minority parents. In some situations the educators felt ill prepared for the challenges parents of ethnic minorities propositioned them with. Subsequently, educationists have requested more training in diversity and for the educational curriculum be more multicutural.
