Abstract

Norsk: Formålet med oppgaven var å undersøke hvilke faktorer som påvirker elevens evne til å gjøre lekser ved namibiske skoler. Ved bruk av kvalitativ metodeforskning har jeg innhentet data fra elever, lærere og rektor. Svarene jeg fikk av informantene viser at det er flere faktorer som påvirker elevene i deres arbeid med lekser. Noen av disse faktorene er elevenes sosioøkonomiske bakgrunn, skole-hjem-samarbeid og tilgang på læringsutstyr. Fattigdom på ulike nivå – nasjonalt og lokalt – har vist seg å være den overordnede årsaken. Under oppholdet kom det frem at praksisskolen har satt i gang tiltak for å hjelpe elevene med lekser, men jeg har avslutningsvis kommet med forslag til flere og bedre tiltak på skolenivå.

English: The aim of this study was to examine which factors that contribute to the pupils’ ability to do their homework in Namibian schools. I have used qualitative research methods to gather data from pupils, teachers and the principal at the respected school. From my data, I have found several factors that affect the pupils in doing their homework. Some of these factors have proven to be the pupils’ socioeconomic background, home – school cooperation and the access to teaching material. The most important factor that also affects all other factors – is poverty, should it be on a national or a local level. During my stay in Namibia, I experienced that my school of practice has shown some effort in helping the pupil’s with homework. However, I have attempted to come with other ideas to help pupils with their homework at the very end of this paper.
